This recent case illustrates a unilateral gynecomastia resection.
Unilateral gynecomastia is when only one breast is enlarged. It is less common than bilateral gynecomastia, and in the case of this patient, his other side did not bother him, so we went for resection of the larger side only.
you can imagine the distress that this young virginia gentleman had. It is not that having gynecomastia in itself is so bad, but having such dramatic assymetry immediately draws the eyes to the chest. this bothered him since his teenage years. He wanted the left side corrected.
surgical details: male chest smartlipo was performed on left side, and about 200 cc of fat material was aspirated. following that, glandular tissue remained, and the surgery continued as pictured below by making small incision at the inferior border of the nipple:
thru this small incison, the hard glandular tissue was remove.
